Simon Best is founder and
Chairman of Ardana
Bioscience, based in Edinburgh, specialising in human reproductive biology www.ardana.co.uk
Simon has had a varied career, which began
in the music business. He received an MBA from London Business School in
1985 and joined ICI Agrochemicals as a senior analyst. In 1993 he was
appointed CEO of Zeneca Plant Sciences and in 1996 was responsible for the
successful introduction of GM tomatoes in Europe. In 1998 he joined
Roslin Bio-med and in 1999 spearheaded the Geron merger.
Simon is a member of the Board of
Biotechnology Industry Organisation (BIO), Chair of BIO's Bioethics Committee,
Member of Board of Trustees of the International Center for Research in the
Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT), Hyderabad, India and a special advisor to the World Bank. He was nominated as a
"Global Leader for Tomorrow" in 1999 by the World Economic Forum at
its Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland.
