Dr Doyle's Interests

Back to Dr Doyle's Page

Primary interest is in alleviation of poverty and malnutrition, while conserving natural resources, by achieving sustainable and substantial increases in agricultural productivity through effective application of the recent and future advances in science and technology to the benefit of the developing world. The problem centres essentially on two parameters, the amount of the world's resources available for sustainable agricultural production and the rate of increase of the human population. Specific interests thus relate first, to the identification, in both time and space, of constraints to achieving the necessary productivity increases, and secondly to identify and combine to maximum effect, the opportunities provided by the advances in the biological, physical, environmental, social and information sciences to achieve the necessary sustainable productivity increases.
